Hi, this is Aye Mon.

Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI) held the special lectures on January 26, 2018 (Friday) at Yagami Campus,

Yokohama. KGRI aims to promote international research and educational exchanges engaging people involved in cutting-edge researches and education in Japan and abroad.

The topics of special lectures for today are

1. “Communication over Fading Channels: Past, Present and Future” by Professor P. Takis Mathiopoulos, University of Athens .

2. “Key Technologies and Challenges in 5G Networks: Reduction of Complexity for Resource Allocation in Massive MIMO” by Professor Maung Sann Maw, Chindwin Technological University.

The two professors are currently doing the collaborative research with Professor Iwao Sasase.

By attending Professor Takis’s lecture, we learnt about the historical notes which is about the previous fading technologies, currently used fading channels techniques and future research trends of wireless communications. He also shared his 30 years research experiences and invaluable take-home message to the audience especially for graduate students.

Professor Maung Sann Maw gave some general knowledge about 5G wireless communication system, possible demands in future 5G systems, key technologies and challenging situations in the 5G journey and the research progress about the reduced complexity in Massive MIMO.
